Louis Foster is excited to make his Euroformula Open debut at Spa-Francorchamps as he makes his final preparations for his maiden European single-seater appearance.
Teaming up with Double R Racing to continue their successful partnership that has seen Louis claim three victories, six podium finishes and four pole positions in this year’s BRDC British F3 Championship, the 17-year-old is looking forward to embarking on his first continental race weekend in single-seaters.
The Copart-sponsored driver will take on the revered Spa-Francorchamps circuit, one of the most famous race tracks in the world renowned for its vast motor racing history. At just over seven kilometres in length, it’s also one of the longest circuits in Europe, providing a true challenge for drivers with a mix of sweeping, high-speed corners such as Blanchimont and Pouhon juxtaposed with the slow Bus Stop chicane and the unique, undulating nature of Eau Rouge.
Aiming to capitalise on his strong form this season, the Poggesi-supported driver aims to hit the ground running and put his two years of single-seater experience to good use.
“I can’t wait to get the weekend started,” Louis said. “Racing in Europe and at Spa is going to be something very special and I’m really thankful to Double R Racing for giving me the opportunity. I’ve never driven the Dallara F320 and I’ve never raced the circuit before so there’s a lot of learning to be done but I thrive off the challenge and will give it my absolute best.”
A busy weekend schedule will see Louis in action for two free practice sessions on Friday at 09:00 and 11:40 local time. Saturday will host the series’ two qualifying sessions at 09:00 and 11:50 respectively, followed by the first race of the weekend at 16:05. Returning for more action on Sunday, the Lord Wandsworth College pupil will get back behind the wheel for two more races at 11:25 and 15:20 local time.
