Oval debut excites Foster in Indianapolis

Louis Foster will take on his first ever oval race this weekend as the Indy Pro 2000 Championship heads to Indianapolis.

Foster is taking on a season of firsts as he races in America for the first time, and the 0.686 mile Lucas Oil Raceway is the next mountain for the 18-year-old to climb. At the last race on the Indianapolis road course earlier in the month, Foster claimed his first series victory in the seventh race of the season and he enters the next round second in the championship.

“I’m really excited to take on an oval for the first time,” said Foster, who is backed by Copart, a global leader in online auto auctions, and Florida-based luxury Italian garden umbrella brand Poggesi.
“It’s not often in motorsport you get to try something totally different to what you’re used to. I’ve had that quite a lot in the last couple of years with moving to America and my first street race earlier this year.
“But all eyes are on the Lucas Oil Raceway now and working with the team to negate any lack of experience I have to make sure we’re competitive.
“I’ve tested at the track and I’m confident we can at least be competitive. I have every confidence in the team that we can."

Foster has finished five of the seven races this year in the top four, and he’s set at least one fastest lap at every race weekend so far.

This weekend Foster will race mere miles away from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the famous Indy 500 will take place two days after Foster finishes at Lucas Oil Raceway. There’s just one race on the oval this weekend, before a return to road course racing at the famous Road America track in early-June.
