3rd August 2018

I was seriously looking forward to this weekend after the enforced break.

Another new circuit for me, so practice was interesting and I didn’t impress much with my lap times. I really wanted rain for qualifying but everyone laughed and said it was never going to happen…..

Qualifying happened…..in the rain. I got fastest lap and pole! Now everyone thinks I’m a weather witch.

First race, in the dry, started well with a few changes in leader but I managed to regain my lead until Adam (Smalley) and I had a coming together which was disastrous as it gave Luke (Browning) the lead!! ARGHHHH! Ended up 4th which I was so disappointed about, that second win remains elusive to me for the time being.

The second race was a bit of a bun fight, I managed 3rd but I made contact with one or two and got penalized because of it with a 10 place grid penalty for Sunday’s race……

Sunday dawned fair and bright. No wait, no it didn’t!! It was raining, hard! Brilliant! I was starting in 13th (not the luckiest place to be on a wet race) so I knew it was going to be a slog. Fortunately I had a start with no incidents although it was all going off around me. I made my way up to 7th by the end of the first lap, and slowly picked my way through the pack to finally finish 3rd again, and top of the rookies.

A lot learned this weekend, I sadly lost my 2nd place in the overall championships to Luke, but with 4 rounds to go it’s anyone’s race really. I’m lying 3rd, still 1st rookie but I want to try and maintain my form as consistency is key now.
